Durango and Silverton pictorial

This recently published book is an all-colour pictorial of the narrow gauge (3 ft or 914 mm) line that runs 45 miles or 72 km from Durango to Silverton in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, arguably America's most scenic preserved railway. It is the equivalent of New Zealand's Taieri Gorge Railway, but even better because it is steam operated.

The photos are by Japan citizen Sam Furukawa, whose passion is narrow gauge steam, and the text and captions are by Bob Hayden. Its 176 pages in landscape format bring to life the splendour and scenic appeal of this operation. A companion book on the Cumbres & Toltec is also available. Hardcover with jacket.
