from the good old days

In 1967 this sign advertises $0.59 for a gallon (3.8 litres) of gasoline in the U.S.  However, adjusted for inflation, that is $4.17 now which is more than the present California price of about $3.  The better deal was only $0.15 for a car wash, which converts to $1.06 now.

Sorry, but I can't buy into that being a 1967 photo. In '67 a gallon of gas was widely 25c-30c in California. I was based there in 1967 and remember it well.
